Dental, Therapeutic, and Cosmetic Botox

Dental, Therapeutic, and Cosmetic Botox in Edmonton

Here at Petrolia, we are proud to be offering dental, therapeutic, and cosmetic Botox here in Edmonton.

In today’s blog, we will be taking a deep-dive into what we treat using Botox, who is a candidate for Botox, and how our team works to ensure that our Botox injections are safe and comfortable for our patients.

What Is Dental, Therapeutic, and Cosmetic Botox Used to Treat?

Firstly, what is Botox?

Defined as a drug that strategically weakens or paralyzes muscle, Botox is FDA-approved and is used for an array of dental, therapeutic, and cosmetic uses. These include:

Dental Botox

The safest way of receiving Botox, dental Botox refers to Botox administered by a dental professional.

Because dentists are experts regarding facial structure (including surrounding muscle and bone), they are armed with a background that permits them to administer precise, natural-looking, fast-acting results.

Therapeutic Botox

Therapeutic Botox works to relieve multiple pain points. In turn, this can treat:

  • Neck pain
  • Bruxism (jaw clenching and teeth grinding)
  • Muscle pain
  • TMJ
  • Insomnia
  • Migraines
  • Headaches

Therapeutic Botox does this by relaxing specific facial muscles. Depending on your insurance, your therapeutic Botox may be covered.

Cosmetic Botox

Cosmetic Botox is used to target cosmetic concerns such as:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Sagging skin
  • Low-sitting eyebrows

You Are in Safe Hands Here at Petrolia Dental Edmonton

We offer Botox in a safe, comfortable, and educational environment.

Before administering any form of Botox, our team will go over your comprehensive medical history and ensure that you have a strong understanding of our post-treatment instructions.

These instructions include:

  • No massaging, rubbing, or pulling of the injected area for four hours post-treatment
  • No facials or other facial treatments for four hours post-treatment
  • No strenuous exercise for 24 hours post-treatment
  • No lying on your front for four hours post-treatment
  • No excessive alcohol before or after your treatment for 24 hours
  • No tightly-fitted headwear for four hours post-treatment

On average, results last 4-6 months in patients who follow these post-procedure instructions. As always, we offer follow-up appointments for patients looking to strengthen or elongate their results.
